Sad Reality

A poem about life, identity and the courage to face what is true.

The sad reality is;You were at war with yourselfI became collateralI wanted you to healYou pretended you weren’t hurtI felt the pain of watching a beautiful thing easily disintegrateMaybe it needed elders to invigilateI gave you everythingYou left me with nothingWere we fighting a battle we couldn’t win?Did we create a loophole that let the enemy in?Our eventful end would make any head spinThe sad truth is, not every story has a happy ending.
